Over 45 years ago, 50 St. William families embarked upon the building of our present church. Within eight years, they had paid off the church, built a small parish school for religious education and purchased a rectory. By God’s grace, this parish has grown to over 350 families and we have outgrown our current facilities. Craven Hall is too small to accommodate large parish functions. It is time to consider expansion of our meeting rooms, classrooms, and offices.
In January 2016, we began an ambitious expansion effort and asked God to bless our 2016-2019 Capital Campaign entitled “Building Our Future Together.” This Capital Campaign will fund the building of a new 10,000 sq. ft. Parish Center. The Center will be constructed on the lots presently occupied by the second rectory and Angel House. The new parish hall will seat over 200 people and include a large kitchen, meeting rooms, classrooms, and garage storage areas. This new building will allow us to meet the religious education needs of all parishioners, as well as create warm and inviting spaces to gather and socialize.
The Finance Council and Building Committee have exercised good stewardship in planning for a total project cost that is estimated at $1.6 million. As required by our Diocese, $800,000 must be in the bank, and the remaining $800,000 must be pledged before construction can begin.
We are asking every parish family to participate and make a sacrificial gift in an effort to reach this goal. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to dramatically change the face of the Catholic Church in Marshall County. If you are currently contributing to our building fund, your funds will be designated to the newly established building fund.
I am sure you will be delighted that the preliminary design of the project will provide everything our growing parish family needs. Donations will gladly be welcomed before that time. May God make this dream a reality!
